Disability Inclusion Facilitator Service
AHA is partnering with the Victorian Department of Education and Training to implement the government’s landmark Disability Inclusion reform, representing a $1.6 billion government commitment to overhauling the way that students with disability are supported through Victorian government schools.
A key plank to this reform is the establishment and ongoing management of the Disability Inclusion Facilitator Service (DIFS), which AHA manages on behalf of the Department. The DIFS is being introduced to Victorian schools through a staged roll-out which commenced in 3 regions in 2021 and will scale up to a state-wide service by 2025.
The DIFS places AHA’s highly skilled facilitators into school-based meetings with families and school staff, to facilitate the completion of a Disability Inclusion Profile for the student. The profile completed by AHA’s facilitator determines a student’s eligibility for, and amount of, additional funding to be provided to the school.
Core components of our DIFS service offering include:
- Recruiting, training, and managing a large team of allied health professionals and teachers with extensive disability experience to facilitate Disability Inclusion Profile meetings in Victorian government schools.
- Developing an online portal which receives, processes, and manages Disability Inclusion Profile requests from Victorian government schools. This online portal development is being delivered by a team of skilled IT development professionals.
- A team of support staff who maintain a support centre during business hours, and team of schedulers who coordinate the scheduling of our facilitator meetings with schools.
