COVID-19 Vaccination in Community Pharmacy Program

AHA’s role in the COVID-19 Vaccination in Community Pharmacy (CVCP) Program included designing, receiving and assessing pharmacies’ expressions of interest to participate in the program, pharmacy onboarding to the program and administering payments to community pharmacies in a timely manner to ensure continued patient access to the vaccination program.

Our responsive and agile approach to collaborating with government positioned us well to support Operation COVID Shield and help community pharmacists to manage the substantial operational and logistical pressures encountered throughout the roll-out of the CVCP program. 

Central to our role in the CVCP program was the development of an online claiming portal to facilitate the above required activities.  We led the rapid design, development, system testing and build of the portal in extremely tight timeframes. User experience testing was a key element of the development stage to make sure community pharmacists would have a seamless claiming experience. We also worked closely with the Department’s COVID-19 vaccine taskforce to develop and disseminate tailored communications to community pharmacists, including step by step guides for the claiming process, and onboarded 4,000+ community pharmacies to the new program. 

Our team recently completed additional work on our online claiming portal to facilitate community pharmacies to administer and claim for COVID-19 booster vaccine delivery.
